Ed Vorst is the owner and head promoter at Second Weekend Productions.  His production of successful concerts in the recent past, and a strong knowledge of the live music industry have given him the necessary experience and insight for this business.  These experiences have also allowed him to acquire a large like-minded social network which, like Ed, is ever anxious to continue the musical spirit of the Folk Festival throughout the year.

Ed also has an eye for talent both inside and outside Winnipeg, and represented both equally on his four year run as a disc jockey for Winnipeg’s new sound: 92.9 KICK-FM.  His weekly radio show: Second Weekend in July was a Sunday morning staple for Winnipeg’s folk and roots music community.

Throughout Second Weekend in July’s 3.5 years and beyond, Ed Vorst served as host/emcee for many of the city’s folk/roots concerts.  Long before the radio show, Ed was doing the same for the Winnipeg Folk Festival, the Winnipeg Juggling Club, and the Season for Non-Violence.

Ed has produced musical concerts and variety shows at some of Winnipeg’s finest music venues: University of Manitoba, Thunderbird House, Park Theatre, Garrick Theatre, Franco-Manitoban Cultural Centre, West End Cultural Centre

Ed. Vorst’s attendance record at the Winnipeg Folk Festival stands at 94%.

“I have a firm belief that Winnipeg has a wealth of both music lovers and exceptional music makers and that there is an unfilled niche in the industry in terms of bringing these groups together.  My knowledge and experience lends itself filling that niche.” – Ed Vorst
